"Opening expo Blijde Gedachten: ‘Stay a while and Shine’"
Leerlingen van het Heilig Graf in Turnhout werken samen met kunstenaar Tramaine de Senna (VS) aan het socio-cultureel initiatief Blijde Gedachten. Dit project zet in op zorgverbreding aan de hand van kunst. De leerlingen creëren artistieke werken die een plaats krijgen in het AZ Turnhout met als doel veerkracht te bieden aan patiënten en bezoekers.
Blijde Gedachten is een vooruitstrevend initiatief dat met de hulp van kunst aan zorgverbreding doet. Dit jaar werd het project Stay a while and Shine uitgerold. Leerlingen uit het eerste, tweede en vijfde jaar kunstonderwijs van het Heilig Graf zochten samen naar antwoorden op vragen over wat hen verbindt met de wereld van vroeger en nu.
De leerlingen worden in dit project begeleid door hedendaags kunstenares Tramaine de Senna (USA). Chris Campers, initiatiefnemer van het project Blijde Gedachten, is enthousiast: “De artistieke samenwerking tussen Tramaine, de leerlingen en de leerkrachten leverden prachtige resultaten op. Samen werden er artistieke toepassingen gemaakt vanuit een filosofische benadering over wat ‘verandering’ in de brede zin van het woord kan betekenen. De erfgoedcollectie van het Heilig Graf en de kantcollectie van de musea (Depot) zorgden voor heel wat inspiratie als verbindende factor tussen vroeger en nu.”
De creatieve werken zullen de permanente tentoonstelling van Blijde Gedachten in het AZ Turnhout - Campus Sint-Jozef opvolgen om voor patiënten en bezoekers een veerkrachtige omgeving te blijven verwezenlijken. Ook online zullen er Blijde Gedachten verschijnen.
De officiële opening van de expo vindt plaats op donderdag 30 mei in het AZ Turnhout - Campus Sint-Jozef.
Dit project kwam tot stand met de steun van Erfgoed Noorderkempen en Cultuurkuur.

Students from the Heilig Graf in Turnhout are working together with artist Tramaine de Senna (USA) on the socio-cultural initiative Blijde Gedachten. This project focuses on expanding care through art. The students create artistic works that are given a place in the AZ Turnhout with the aim of offering resilience to patients and visitors.
Blijde Gedachten is a progressive initiative that uses art to expand care. This year, the Stay a while and Shine project was rolled out. Students from the first, second and fifth year of art education at the Heilig Graf searched together for answers to questions about what connects them to the world of the past and present.
The students are guided in this project by contemporary artist Tramaine de Senna (USA). Chris Campers, initiator of the Blijde Gedachten project, is enthusiastic: “The artistic collaboration between Tramaine, the students and the teachers yielded wonderful results. Together, artistic applications were created from a philosophical approach to what ‘change’ in the broad sense of the word can mean. The heritage collection of the Heilig Graf and the lace collection of the museums (Depot) provided a great deal of inspiration as a connecting factor between the past and the present.”
The creative works will follow up the permanent exhibition of Blijde Gedachten in the AZ Turnhout - Campus Sint-Jozef in order to continue to create a resilient environment for patients and visitors. Blijde Gedachten will also appear online.
The official opening of the exhibition will take place on Thursday 30 May in the AZ Turnhout - Campus Sint-Jozef.
